Ondrinaivom Vaa COVID-19 Helpline

The COVID-19 pandemic and the consequences of the poorly planned lockdown inflicted immense misery and suffering on people. MK Stalin and DMK members undertook relief measures across Tamil Nadu from Day 1 itself to help those in need of basic essentials. Yet, Lakhs of suffering people had no avenue to reach out for help.

Realizing the scale of this suffering, MK Stalin raised a clarion call to come together as one. Ondrinaivom Vaa was an initiative born out of this vision. The leader called upon fellow DMK members to become catalysts of this initiative and channel our strength as a community. People’s Helpline was set-up as a single point contact for anyone in need across TN. In a period of 40 days, the

Helpline received over 18 lakh calls. Party Leadersand Citizen Volunteers came together to addressthese call requests.To address the need of hunger across the state, Feed the Poor was launched and over 19 days, a network of NGO Partners and Kitchen Partners came together toserve over 28 Lakh cooked meals.

The help extended through People’s Helpline and Feed the Poor was over and above the relief efforts that were already being undertaken by the Party and its Leaders.The outcome of the initiative has only increased the conviction in our efforts to turn this into amovement on our road to recovery.

Our party’s primary focus over the next 6-8 weeks is to act as a catalyst and bring together the people of Tamil Nadu through the ‘Ondrinaivom Vaa’ initiative.

DMK, under the leadership of M.K.Stalin, aims to reach out to more than 4 Cr citizens of our State through this multi-format initiative. We aim to gather and address over 2.5L people’s issues, serve 20L meals to the poor, reassure and connect with 10L families, and create a virtual forum of 10L+ good Samaritans to provide help to the needy.

The COVID-19 pandemic has seen lakhs of people across Tamil Nadu cut off from basic survival essentials. Taking into account the enormity of the issue MK Stalin introduced a one-point contact for anyone in need across TN, thePeople’s Helpline.

Party leaders and Citizen Volunteers came together to work tirelessly to address over18 Lakh issues received via helpline requesting for food, medical and transport assistance. In an effort to not leave any request unattended, over7 Lakh issues were further put together by the Office of MK Stalin and presented to the government for addressal.
