About Us :
India is a constitutional democracy with a parliamentary system of government, and at the heart of the system is a commitment to hold regular, free and fair elections.

These elections determine the composition of the government, the membership of the two houses of parliament, the state and union territory legislative assemblies, and the Presidency and vice-presidency.

Elections are conducted according to the constitutional provisions, supplemented by laws made by Parliament.

The major laws are Representation of the People Act, 1950, which mainly deals with the preparation and revision of electoral rolls, the Representation of the People Act, 1951 which deals, in detail, with all aspects of conduct of elections and post election disputes.

The Supreme Court of India has held that where the enacted laws are silent or make insufficient provision to deal with a given situation in the conduct of elections, the Election Commission has the residuary powers under the Constitution to act in an appropriate manner.

1.Who can become a voter?
Any person who is :
1) a citizen of India
2) 18 years of age or above on the qualifying date which is presently 1.1.2012 Or born on 1.1.1994 or earlier.

3) ordinarily resident in Delhi.This includes a student in a University, Institute etc.
4) not disqualified to be voter e.g. not of unsound mind etc.

2. How do I Enrol as a voter and get my voter ID card?
To become a voter you need to fill in the application Form – 6. Once this Form is accepted, your name will be included in the Electoral Roll as a voter.

3. How do I know where my VREC is ?
There is one VREC for each of the 70 Assembly Constituencies (AC). To know your VREC, you have to know your AC first.For this go to the Know Your Assembly Constituency on the home page and enter your locality name such as Greater Kailash, Mayur Vihar etc.

You will get details of your Assembly Constituency and Number. After that, go to Know Your VREC on the home page and check the details of the VREC corresponding to your Assembly Constituency.

4. How do I know where my closest Designated Location is ?
To see the details of the Designated Location closest to you, please go to What is New on the home page and click on Designated Locations for Summary Revision 2012.

Click on your Assembly Constituency and you will get details of the Designated Locations where you can go to pick up and submit Form 6.
