Bye-election to the Karnataka Legislative Council from Dakshina Kannada Local Authorities’ Constituency
There is a casual vacancy in the Karnataka Legislative Council from Dakshina Kannada Local Authorities’ Constituency. The details of the vacancy are as under
Name of Member : Sri Kota Shrinivas Poojari
Cause of vacancy : Resignation
Date of Vacancy : 15.06.2024
Date of retirement : 05.01.2028

Schedule Karnataka Legislative Council Bye-Election

The Commission has decided to hold a bye-election to the Karnataka Legislative Council to fill the above-mentioned vacancy in accordance with the following schedule:
1. Issue of Notification 26th September, 2024 (Thursday)
2. Last date of making nominations 03rd October, 2024 (Thursday)
3. Scrutiny of nominations 04th October, 2024 (Friday)
4. Last date for withdrawal of candidatures 07th October, 2024 (Monday)
5. Date of poll 21st October, 2024 (Monday)
6. Hours of poll 08:00 am- 04:00 pm
7. Counting of Votes 24th October, 2024 (Thursday)
8. Date before which election shall be completed 28th October, 2024 (Monday)

** The Model Code of Conduct concerning the said election will come into force with immediate effect in the Concerned Constituency.

How to Register & Vote?

A guide for General Voters :
You can enroll as a General Voter if you are
** An Indian citizen
** 18 years of age on 1st January
** Resident of polling area
** Not disqualified

Who is not qualified to be enrolled in the Electoral Roll
** Not a citizen of India
** Of unsound mind
** Disqualified from voting due to specified corrupt practices or offenses relating to elections

Getting Started:
Registration in the Electoral Roll
Enrol as a General Voter
Collect Form 6 from Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Booth Level Officer (BLO)
Send by Post
OR
Fill Form 6 Download Form 6, fill 2 copies and submit to ERO
OR
Fill Form 6 online on www.nvsp.in and upload required documents

Documents required with Form 6 :
** Photo-copies of documentary proof of age and residence
** The list of documentary proof of age and residence which can be enclosed is given in the guidelines with Form 6.
** Passport size colour photo
** Documentary proof of age for ages 18 to 21. For other cases, declaration of age by applicant is required

What is Form 7?
Application for objecting inclusion of or deleting a name from the electoral roll. You have to be registered as a voter to fill this form.
Deletion/Objection of inclusion/exclusion of name from electoral roll if:
** Person has shifted residence
** Known person is dead
** Not eligible for other reasons

Where?
** File application with the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of the constituency
OR
** Submit online

How?
** Give details of person whose name has to be deleted/ objection for inclusion of name
** Give your details
** Give your detailed address
** Reasons for deletion/objection
** Declaration that facts mentioned are correct
