History of Bahujan Movement
1984: Manyawar Kanshi Ram founds the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on April 14, with the aim of bringing about social transformation and economic emancipation for the marginalized communities, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and Religious Minorities.
2001: Manyawar Kanshi Ram declares Bahan Kumari Mayawati as his political heir and successor during a mammoth rally at the Lakshman Mela Ground in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on December 15.
2003: Bahan Kumari Mayawati assumes the role of National President of the BSP on September 18, following the serious health setback of Manyawar Kanshi Ram.
2007: The BSP forms the government in Uttar Pradesh for the fourth time, with Bahan Kumari Mayawati as Chief Minister, demonstrating the party’s electoral strength and widespread support.
