Biennial Elections to the Telangana Legislative Council From Graduates’ Constituencies.

Reason For Bye Election :

WHEREAS, the seats of two members of the Legislative Council of the State of Telangana, elected from the Council Constituencies, specified in column (1) of the table below, as per the numbers shown in the corresponding entries in column (2) of the table, are due to fall vacant on the retirement of sitting members, on the dates mentioned in the corresponding entries in column (3) of the table, on the expiration of their term of office; and WHEREAS, biennial election has to be held for the purpose of filling the above said vacancies so arising;

Election Date : 22-March-2015

NOW, THEREFORE, as recommended by the Election Commission of India in pursuance of section 16 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the Governor of the State of Telangana is hereby pleased to call upon each of the said Council Constituencies, specified in column (1) of the table below, to elect the number of members, specified against that Constituency in column (2) of the said table, to the Legislative Council of the State, for the purpose of filling the above mentioned vacancies, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder

NOW, THEREFORE, in pursuance of sections 30 and 56 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the Election Commission of India hereby —
(A) appoints, with respect to the said election in each of the constituencies, –
(a) 26th February, 2015 (Thursday), as the last date for making nominations;
(b) 27th February, 2015 (Friday), as the date for the scrutiny of the nominations;
(c) 2nd March, 2015 (Monday), as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures;
(d) 16th March, 2015 (Monday), as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and
(e) 23rd March, 2015 (Monday), as the date before which the election shall be completed; and

(B) fixes the hours from .00 A.. to .00 PM., as the hours during which the poll shall, if necessary, be taken, on the date specified above, for the election. – –
